To create a new template, navigate to the TEMPLATES section from the Left side menu. Then click on CREATE TEMPLATE.
Template Name: this is a custom field. We suggest giving the template a name that will help easily identify what the template is being used for.
I.e. "LUMEN ONLY" or "ACME FAX VERIZON/LUMEN SPLIT"
Select Network: Choose the Network (Area of Service) based on the list below. The Network should also be confirmed with your carrier to ensure they provide service in the areas you need.
US: All 50 US States
CN: Canada including LATA 888, 870, 871, 884
CR: Caribbean including LATA 820, 822, 824, 826, 828, 830
XA: All 50 US States & Canada
XB: All 50 US States & Caribbean
XC: All 50 US States, Canada & Caribbean
Select Instruction Type: Choose if this will be a routing template or a block template. A routing template will contain Carrier Identification Codes (CIC) that will tell originating carriers where to send the call. A block template will block any calls from coming in to the numbers that are assigned to it.
Select Carrier: Choose the Carrier based on the 4-digit CIC that your carrier has provided to you. Please note that some carriers have multiple CICs so it is imperative that you choose the exact 4-digit code that your carrier has instructed you to use. NumHub cannot provide you with this code. Entering the wrong CIC will cause calls to be misrouted and will not complete. To split traffic, enter up to four carriers/CICs and designate the percentage of traffic you would like to go to each carrier/CIC.
Click SAVE in the bottom right. This will return you back to your TEMPLATES list.
Instructions: To add a special routing instruction, locate your template from the TEMPLATES list and click EDIT to open the template.
Scroll down to the Instructions section and choose the special routing instruction that you would like to create. You can also use the instructions to block calls originating from the specified area/number.
LATA: This instruction is used to send calls originating from a specific LATA to a different CIC than the main template CIC.
STATE: This instruction is used to send calls originating from a specific State to a different CIC than the main template CIC.
NPA: This instruction is used to send calls originating from a specific NPA (the first 3 digits of a phone number, aka the area code) to a different CIC than the main template CIC.
6-DIGIT: This instruction is used to send calls originating from a specific 6-digit (aka NPA-NXX or the first 6 digits of a phone number) to a different CIC than the main template CIC.
10-DIGIT: This instruction is used to send calls originating from a specific phone number to a different CIC than the main template CIC.
NAME the instruction and choose if you would like it to be a CARRIER instruction or a BLOCK instruction. For a CARRIER instruction, you will need to enter the CIC. You are able to split routing on these special instructions between up to four carriers. Just like before, NumHub cannot tell you which CICs to use, these 4-digit codes must come from your carrier. Enter the values in the LIST field.
Click SAVE in the bottom right corner of the Instruction pop up window.
Make sure to click SAVE again on the main template!
Now that you have configured the routing of your template, you will need to Activate it by either checking the Routing Only check box and SAVE it again; or by assigning a number to the template. One of these actions is required to activate your newly created template in the SOMOS database.
To Assign a number to your template, go to your Templates list, locate the new template and click ASSIGN:
Enter the number(s) you would like to assign into the Toll-Free List box.
Effective Date: You may choose to assign the numbers immediately by selecting NOW; or you can schedule the assignment for a future date and time.
Click ASSIGN.
To modify any of the routing information or edit/add/delete any of the instructions on a template, go to your TEMPLATES list, locate the template and click EDIT. This will open up the carrier/CIC fields and the Instructions. Don't forget to click SAVE after making updates.
