User Roles in PortControl

Description

This document explains the purpose of each User Role in PortControl. Roles can be assigned or updated by your Organization Admin under the Manage section.

User Role Categories

There are four categories of user roles in PortControl: General, Manage, Network, and Orders. Each category controls different levels of access and functionality.

1. General Roles

Role	Purpose
Explore	Provides read-only access to number lookups in Explore.
Network	Provides read-only access to LRNs, codes, blocks, and other PSTN-related items in Network.
CNAM	Grants access to premium CNAM lookups (see your MSA).
History	Grants access to premium History lookups (see your MSA).

 

Summary:

Assign Explore and Network roles for view-only access to numbers, LRNs, codes, and blocks.
Assign CNAM and History for premium features.

2. Manage Roles

Role	Purpose
Organization Admin	Grants administrative control to create and manage users.
Webhooks	Allows setup of notifications via webhook or email subscription.
Reports	Grants access to reports on transactions (Explore, Port-Ins/Outs, etc.).

 

Summary:

Assign Organization Admin for full user administration.
Assign Webhooks to allow notification setup.
Assign Reports to give access to reporting tools.

3. Network Roles

Role	Purpose
Manage Network	Allows creation of blocks, codes, LRNs, etc. with NPAC.
Network Profiles	Allows management of Network Profiles.

 

Summary:

These roles determine whether the Create button appears on the Network page for the user.
Assign Manage Network for creating network items.
Assign Network Profiles for managing profiles.

4. Orders Roles

Role	Purpose
Read Only	Grants view-only access to Orders.
Manage Orders	Allows the user full access to managing orders, including creating port in, port out, modify and disconnects.
Pre-Orders (LSR/CSR)	Only allows the user to create & manage port in orders.

 

Summary:

Assign Read Only to restrict to view-only access.
Assign Manage Orders for full order creation and management.
Use Pre-Orders (LSR/CSR) to allow the ability to create pre-order port in requests.
