PortControl allows you to set up Email and Webhook notifications. Admin permissions are required.
Notification descriptions are also listed below.
Email Notifications
Navigate to Manage in PortControl.
Click the arrow to the right to expand the menu options.
(Example: see screenshots mceclip1.png and mceclip4.png)Use the Search box or scroll the list to locate the user.
Click on the user’s name to modify and add notifications.
Use the icons on the far right to delete or pause notifications.
(Example: see screenshots mceclip7.png and mceclip8.png)After selecting the desired notifications, click Save to complete.
Webhook Notifications
You can also subscribe to events using webhooks:
Create a new Webhook (JSON) subscription.
Enter the destination URL where events should be pushed.
PortControl will send event data to your external service.
Example use case:
Configure a webhook to send updates to a Microsoft Teams or Slack bot whenever an event occurs in PortControl (e.g., a port-out is received).
Notification Definitions
Below are the notifications available in PortControl and NPAC, grouped by category.
General Notifications (Across All SPIDs)
Number Gateway Provisioning – Alerts you when a telephone number (TN) has been provisioned with the carrier (useful for wholesale clients).
Order – Assigned New Task – Alerts you when the user who created the notification is assigned a new task.
User Notes on Order – Alerts you when a note is added to an order within your organization.
NPAC Notifications
New TN Port-Out SV – Alerts you when a Subscription Version (SV) is built in NPAC for a TN that is not listed on any of your orders in PortControl.
This may indicate another carrier is attempting to “slam” (unauthorized port) one of your numbers. Investigate immediately. Contact the HelpDesk if you cannot view the SV in NPAC.TN SV Request Failed – Alerts you when an NPAC error occurs on an SV record.
TN SV Updates – Alerts you whenever your SV record is updated in NPAC.
PortControl Notifications
CSR Review Submitted – Alerts you when your CSR (Customer Service Record) request is sent for manual review.
CSR Updated – Alerts you when your CSR request is updated.
New CSR Request – Alerts you when a new CSR request is created for your organization in PortControl.
New Number – Alerts you when a new number is added
PreOrder Port-In Response – Alerts you when there is a new response on your Port-In order (e.g., approved or rejected).
PreOrder Port-In Status Change – Alerts you to a status change on your Port-In order (e.g., LSR submitted, FOC received, Active, Old).
PreOrder Port-Out Requested – Alerts you when a new Port-Out request is submitted in PortControl.
PreOrder Port-Out Supplemented – Alerts you when a Port-Out order has been supplemented (updated) by the gaining carrier.
VPOP Port-Out Activation – Alerts you when the gaining carrier has activated a TN on a Port-Out order.
VPOP Port-Out CSR Request – Alerts you when you receive a new CSR request from a gaining carrier.
